Injection guide for Lantus® SoloSTAR® pen for your patients

Give your patients the Lantus® injection tips listed below. For more detailed information, download the complete guide to the Lantus® SoloSTAR® insulin pen. For more on injecting with the Lantus® vial and syringe click here.

  • Lantus® can be administered any time of day
  • Use Lantus® once a day at the same time every day
  • Inject your dose into 1 of the 3 areas shown at right below
  • Rotate areas each time you inject a dose within the area you selected


DOs and DON'Ts

  • Follow the instructions that come with the Lantus® SoloSTAR® pen
  • Use alcohol or soap and water to clean the injection site. The injection site should be dry before injecting
  • Attach a new needle before each use—always
  • Count to 10 after pressing the button
  • Remove the needle from your skin if you dial another dose
  • Rub the injection spot after an injection
  • Inject in the same spot every time
  • Share the Lantus® SoloSTAR® pen with other people, even if the needle has been changed. You may give other people a serious infection, or you could get one from them
