Switching Diabetes Patients From Premix to LANTUS®
In a larger scale observational study, LANTUS® basal insulin + oral diabetes medications (OADs) lowered A1C in more
than 5,000 patients switched from premix insulin ± OADs10
For type 2 diabetes patients with characteristics similar to the patients studied:
- Mean duration of diabetes: 8.6 (± 6.1) years
- Mean BMI: 28.4 (males); 29.0 (females)
- Mean A1C: 8.3% (± 1.2%)
Switching patients from premix insulin to LANTUS®, a long-acting (basal) insulin,
+ oral diabetes medications (OADs) improved glycemic control10
An observational study documented the effect of switching from premix insulin (±OADs)
to LANTUS® + OADs in 5,045 poorly controlled type 2 patients in everyday practice.
From Hammer and Klinge.10
- Mean FBG reduction of 54 mg/dL [178 ± 48 to 124 ± 26 mg/dL]
- Mean postprandial blood glucose reduction of 55 mg/dL [195 ± 50 to 140 ± 27 mg/dL]
Low incidence of hypoglycemia10
- 16 reported incidences in 6,560 patients (overall study population)
