Bill's Journey

Bill is a patent attorney with a wife, family, and type 2 diabetes. Bill doesn’t let diabetes keep him from enjoying the things life has to offer.

Bill is a doughnut freak, traveling far and wide to find the perfect jelly doughnut, until he found out he had type 2 diabetes.

It took Bill a trip to the hospital before he came face to face with the fact that he had diabetes.

It wasn’t easy for Bill to get used to injecting insulin. Until he learned that Lantus® is injected once a day.

Bill used an incredibly detailed log to help manage the ups and downs of his first few weeks on insulin.

Bill believes that Lantus®, diet, and exercise are a magic combination that helps him keep his blood sugar under control.
Jose’s Journey

José is a former restaurant worker, banquet chef, meat packer, and now, he’s living with type 2 diabetes.

José focuses on managing his type 2 diabetes so he can spend time with his family.

José wasn’t afraid of type 2 diabetes. But he wondered what his next steps were.

José started with oral diabetes medication and added the Lantus® SoloSTAR® pen.

It took a few months before José and his doctor found the dose of Lantus® that was right for him.

Now José exercises, eats well, and takes his Lantus® to keep his blood sugar numbers under control.
Lynda’s Journey

Lynda is a certified diabetes educator who travels the world as a medical missionary. She developed type 2 diabetes.

Lynda has been around the world to help people with type 2 diabetes. Her type 2 diabetes diagnosis hasn’t kept her from her travels.

As part of her training, Lynda was given a glucose meter and asked to live as a person with type 2 diabetes.

Lynda asked her doctor if he could prescribe her insulin. He had never heard that before.

Lynda wanted results right away. It took her a little longer than she had hoped it would.

Lynda likes Lantus® because it gives her the insulin that her body's not making enough of.

Lantus® (insulin glargine [rDNA origin] injection)

Do not take Lantus® if you are allergic to insulin or any of the inactive ingredients in Lantus®.

You must test your blood sugar levels while using insulin, such as Lantus®. Do not make any changes to your dose or type of insulin without talking to your healthcare provider. Any change of insulin should be made cautiously and only under medical supervision.

Do NOT dilute or mix Lantus® with any other insulin or solution. It will not work as intended and you may lose blood sugar control, which could be serious. Lantus® must only be used if the solution is clear and colorless with no particles visible. Do not share needles, insulin pens or syringes with others.

The most common side effect of insulin, including Lantus®, is low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which may be serious. Some people may experience symptoms such as shaking, sweating, fast heartbeat, and blurred vision. Severe hypoglycemia may be serious and life-threatening. It may cause harm to your heart or brain. Other possible side effects may include injection site reactions, including changes in fat tissue at the injection site, and allergic reactions, including itching and rash. In rare cases, some allergic reactions may be life-threatening.

Tell your doctor about other medicines and supplements you are taking because they can change the way insulin works. Before starting Lantus®, tell your doctor about all your medical conditions including if you have liver or kidney problems, are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding or planning to breast-feed.

Lantus® SoloSTAR® is a disposable prefilled insulin pen. Please talk to your healthcare provider about proper injection technique and follow instructions in the Instruction Leaflet that accompanies the pen.
