New to LANTUS®
Whether you've switched to LANTUS® after using another insulin, or LANTUS®
is the first insulin you've ever used, this section can help you get the most from
LANTUS®, the only 24-hour insulin approved exclusively for use once a day.
LANTUS® is a long-acting insulin that is taken once a day, any time of the day,
at the same time each day. It works steadily and consistently to help manage blood
sugar control around the clock. LANTUS® is usually taken in combination with
oral diabetes medications.
Many people, just like you, successfully use LANTUS® insulin for blood sugar
control. While there's no secret to their success, there is one common factor many
of them share: they know what it takes to achieve results.
- Dosing is very important. And sometimes it may need to be adjusted.
Your healthcare professional may start you on a low initial dose, which may then
be adjusted to reach the dose that's best for you. This is a normal part of treatment
for diabetes.
- LANTUS® is not a "stand-alone" diabetes therapy.
LANTUS® insulin works in combination with other diabetes medicines and routines,
including a healthy diet and regular exercise.
- Proper treatment takes time.
Finding just the right dose and the right balance of insulin, diet, exercise and
other diabetes medications for you is an ongoing process, not a one-time fix.
So, give LANTUS® time. And check in regularly with your healthcare professional
so he or she knows exactly how your treatment is going.
